Our Taranaki

New Plymouth is the largest city of the province of Taranaki – or ‘The Naki’ to locals.

Ducks and Drakes is perfectly positioned minutes away from the centre of the city and a great base to explore further afield. Taranaki has much for the visitor to explore; New Plymouth boasts a world renowned art gallery, the award winning Coastal Walkway; fascinating Puke Ariki Museum; an abundance of beautiful parks and lush walks through native bush just minutes from the city.

Surfing Taranaki

New Plymouth is home to world class surfing beaches – and is the gateway to Surf Highway 45.

Mt Taranaki dominates the landscape – drawing bushwalkers and adventurers under its spell with its many tracks and trails. The Forgotten World Highway is an adventure in itself and is accessed via Stratford.

New Plymouth hosts many international artists who perform at the Bowl of Brooklands – a beautiful, natural amphitheatre; and is host city for the annual WOMAD festival. For events around Taranaki, check out eventfinder.co.nz
